The Doctors of
Amador Chiropractic Wellness Center
Dr. Christopher Sienes, Dr. Denise Mathre, Dr. Daniel Cockrell & Dr. Don Bojnowski are all licensed chiropractors serving the Sierra Foothill community of Jackson, California. As chiropractors with 63 years of combined experience, the doctors are committed to promoting your optimal health and well being.
Our team uses a "whole person approach". This approach to wellness means looking for the underlying causes, identifying any disturbance or interference (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and assist by using whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that will optimize the conditions to return to normal function. Our multi-doctor environment gives you access to our combined expertise, unique adjusting styles and increased availability. Using this unique approach, we are able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.
Dr. Christopher Sienes
I’ve been a self-professed “health-nut” since I was a kid. Raised in the Bay Area, I had an aunt who taught me the importance of wellness before it was catch phrase. I always loved the outdoors, hiking, skiing, and hunting, so healthy living came naturally.
After graduating high school in Concord, I spent a few years “finding myself”, much to my father’s frustration. I graduated Humboldt State with a degree in marine biology still searching for a career I could be passionate about. A chance meeting with a chiropractor changed all that.
I graduated Palmer College of Chiropractic-West in 1986 and have been providing chiropractic care in Amador County since. As a family practitioner, I enjoy caring for everyone from newborns to seniors. Young clients I had in my early years are now bringing their own children in for wellness.
While aware that most people think of chiropractic care as relief from back pain, neck pain and/or headaches, I know that wellness cannot be achieved without maintaining a healthy spine and nervous system. It is the proactive approach to healthcare. I continue to share this knowledge through health and wellness talks, both in and out of the office. The most enjoyable part of being a chiropractor for me is in serving those in the community, especially the relational aspect of working with my patients—making long-term connections with the people I care for.
I was an active member of Amador County Search and Rescue for over 20 years and now spend my free time working with the men’s ministry at my church, Calvary Chapel. I also help my wife with the little kids as a substitute Sunday school teacher. I still enjoy outdoor adventures—cross-country skiing, hiking and hunting, as well as quiet time at home outside the small town of Volcano with my wife, Jennifer and our three dogs.
Dr. Denise Mathre
I am a native to this area, growing up just outside of Mokelumne Hill. I attended Moke Hill Elementary, Toyon Middle School and Calaveras High School. A knee injury while playing high school basketball is what convinced me to pursue a career in chiropractic. I was mentored by Drs. Stuart in West Point, encouraging me to attend Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, OR. I graduated with my D.C. (doctor of chiropractic degree) in December 1996, and joined Dr. Sienes at Amador Chiropractic in September of 1997.
I love learning and know that I'll never be done growing myself! I actively engage in advanced leadership training and continuing education courses throughout the year. I have a hunger for information and am constantly reading and searching out the most current health and wellness information available.
I love working with people of every generation, but especially pregnant moms and their families; helping the next generation get a great start to life. I'm certified in Webster's In-Utero Constraint Technique and have helped many mom's acheive a natural birth where they were headed for intervention with a breech baby presentation.
In my time out of the center you can find me caring for my home, garden and many rescued critters including goats, sheep, ducks, cats and dogs. I enjoy most outdoor activities and riding my motorcycle on our quiet country roads. I'm also an avid scrapbooker and card maker whenever I get the time.
Dr. Daniel Cockrell
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I spent my high school days assisting at the San Mateo Fire Department and studying for my EMT certificate. I graduated from Hillsdale High School and moved to northern California to study biology at CSU Chico. While in college, I worked on a Paradise Ambulance.
In my early twenties, I was employed as a professional medical records copier, a job that required me to visit medical and chiropractic offices all over Northern California. I noticed people in the medical offices were looking to manage and mask their illnesses and afflictions. When I was in chiropractic offices, I saw people seeking health and wellness. One day, while attempting to do my job in pain, I was approached by a chiropractor who offered something nobody else had—hope. He described what a subluxation was and how my body was struggling to heal. He began adjusting my spine and within two weeks, I was functioning better than ever before. With great clarity, I knew what my life’s purpose was.
After graduating college with a bachelor’s of science degree, I moved back to the Bay Area to attend Life Chiropractic College West, where I studied under some of the industry’s leading lecturers. I graduated in September 2009 with my Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree.
I feel blessed to be a part of both this beautiful community and Amador Chiropractic Wellness Center where each day I can provide others with the hope and chiropractic care that is an essential part of life. I feel it is important to make daily decisions toward living a healthy lifestyle. Health does not happen by accident; it’s a result of deliberate action and a positive mental attitude.
In my time off I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. I feel it’s important to continue learning to keep the mind sharp and active. I regularly attend seminars to enrich my knowledge and skill in the chiropractic field, study scripture and read books on health and personal growth. Each and every one of us is a work in progress and must strive daily for personal enrichment and success.
Dr. Don Bojnowsi
I was born in Canada where I grew up surrounded by
farmland. My parents taught me open mindedness and perseverance. Our family moved to South Africa where I received my first chiropractic adjustment at the age of ten. At seventeen we headed to California where in 1984 I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
My passion for holistic healthcare was honed while working with practitioners who are considered masters by their peers. I was a treating doctor at the Latch Clinic in San Francisco as well as the Marin Clinic of Preventive Medicine. I continuously seek ways to help my patients achieve their health goals while the latest scientific research reaffirms what we already know—health is a lifestyle; and chiropractic care empowers your body’s ability to heal itself.
Before moving to the Foothills, my wife and I filled our daypacks and headed out to seek connection with the global community. We spent a few years in over twenty countries on five continents. I provided chiropractic adjustments and traded knowledge with healers from Swaziland to Indonesia, and New Zealand to Nepal.
In my spare time I like to eat local produce, camp, hike, mountain bike, snowboard, and make music with friends. I invite you to join us at A.C.W.C. and become a well-adjusted individual. I’m glad to be a part of a smaller community moving forward together in difficult times.
