Upper Cervical Changed My Life
As a professional violinist who has had several falls and car accidents, I have long struggled with neck and upper back pain and tension, and nerve problems affecting my hand. I have worked on this through traditional chiropractic, rolfing, physical therapy, and yoga, which all helped to a degree. When I fell off a ladder and hit my head the neck pain and tension escalated. In desperation, I looked up Dr. Sienes, whom I had worked with before and trust, and saw that he is certified in an Upper Cervical Technique. It seemed an answer to prayer.
It took about 5 treatments for my Atlas to hold the new position. It took me that long to accept this new feeling and to commit to the process, which included sleeping on my back. That week was like magic. My neck relaxed inside and out in a way I’d never experienced. In a big week of concerts, my atlas slipped back once, but is again in position and holding for a few months now. The pain is gone and misalignment is a thing of the past.
A big thank you to Dr. Sienes for your commitment to this treatment and your patience with the process, and with the patient!
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
About six months ago I suffered a concussion. Even though a CAT scan showed no bleed on the brain or serious injury, I began having debilitating headaches. I was unable to think clearly and I couldn’t tolerate lights and noise. Normal life was difficult. I took prescription pain medications to no avail and actually made things worse. A trip to the neurologist revealed that post concussion headaches are very difficult to treat; headaches could last for months and sometimes longer. Dr. Sienes suggested I try Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy. After a while, I started noticing relief from the headaches, I became more clear headed, and the sensitivity to lights and sound diminished. I believe the HBOT sessions made a noticeable difference in the quality of my life. I’m grateful to Dr. Sienes for his genuine concern for my health. I am also thankful that I didn’t have to drive to Sacramento for these treatments. I understand that HBOT has been proven to greatly help and reverse many medical conditions. I can highly recommend HBOT!

Praises for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
When I first learned of the hyperbaric chamber, I was skeptical. Eighteen years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disorder called Ankylosing Spondylitis. I constantly struggled with visibly swollen joints, pain in shoulders, lower back, and my right knee. Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In other words, when flare ups occurred, I felt as though I had the flu and my body would ache all over. My skepticism of trying new holistic methods came from using all my financial means to get relief. I had tried acupuncture, a naturopathic doctor, massage, extreme dietary changes, Tai Chi, hot yoga, water exercise, infared saunas, homeopathic remedies, food allergy testing, and rheumatology recommendations through pharmaceutical drugs, as well as chiropractic care.
The most effective treatments for me were a combination of chiropractic care, massage, and the hyperbaric chamber. That being said, the hyperbaric chamber has vastly improved my life!! I no longer take daily over the counter pain medication. The pain in my shoulders is gone. My vision as well as concentration has vastly improved! I am more relaxed. Most importantly, the visible inflammation that seemed to plague me has subsided!!! In fact, my doctor even asked me at my annual checkup what I had been doing differently as he hadn’t seen me look this healthy in years!!! I do experience the occasional flare up. In the past, my flare ups would last for weeks on end. With the use of the hyperbaric chamber, they now only last me a few days. Furthermore, the flare ups are few and far between. I am incredibly grateful to the chiropractic team at Amador Chiropractic Wellness Center for their dedication, patience, and time spent on helping me find the answers I so desperately needed to live a normal and healthy life!!
I think Chris does miracles!!! So kind and gentle and a genuinely soft soul.
Quality over quantity
I never have to worry about them overbooking appointments. They definitely believe in quality over quantity here and it is much appreciated. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. They always dress so professionally here, the entire staff obviously makes an effort to look their best and maintain a very professional appearance. Their equipment was very advanced and sophisticated. I was very impressed. Not only were they able to provide everything they promised me, they went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations.
Doesn’t like being “cracked”
Some years ago I had back surgery, so I’ve been inclined to periodic low back pain. I was beginning, however, to develop a dull, irritating pain in my hip that wouldn’t go away. It was there pretty much daily and I was experiencing a poor quality of sleep.
I hadn’t been to a chiropractor in years because of being nervous about having my “bones cracked” as it were, because of my surgery. I was referred to Dr. Sienes because of one of his method of adjusting the body (ProAdjuster) and his holistic approach to health care. I’ve been very pleased with the results of my visits…. and the pain, both low back and hip, have completely gone away!
Chiropractic is for the whole family!
Twenty-one years ago, I was given the opportunity to work in a chiropractic office. I knew very little about how chiropractic could change my quality of life. After several chiropractic educational seminars I was so excited about chiropractic that I wanted everyone I knew to get in for care. At that time, I was having terrible back pain and constant headaches due to “spinals” that I was given to deliver my two children by C-section. I was unable to lay on my back and sitting or standing for long periods was unbearable. Within six months of chiropractic care my headaches were gone and my back felt 100% better. Knowing that chiropractic had made me feel so much better, I encouraged my husband to get adjustments to help control his allergies. He had taken so many over-the-counter drugs which only made him non-functional and sick. His allergies were cleared up completely in about 8 months. What a relief for him- NO MORE TOXIC MEDICATIONS!
I love my adjustments – they make my whole body feel balanced. I don’t get colds or the flu like I used to because my immune system is functioning properly. It is so much fun playing with my 3 year old grandson without restrictions (he gets adjusted here, too).
Chiropractic care is now my “way of life, for the rest of my life”. I encourage anyone who has questions about chiropractic to come to one of ACWC’s Wellness Workshops to learn more. Chiropractic is a gentle approach to keeping your body healthy through a healthy nervous system – “interference free”.
We all want the best for our children and chiropractic care can definitely give them a great start on life. The wonderful, educated and gentle doctors at ACWC have helped so many babies and children with childhood problems. Why would we not want a healthy nervous system for them too?
A year of suffering…
When I came to ACWC, I had been in a car accident 10 months prior. Since the accident my life had been changed dramatically. My left lower back and leg were in so much pain I had problems sleeping at night, exercising, cleaning the house, and even sitting at work. Prior to coming to the chiropractor, my medical doctor put me on all sorts of drugs and physical therapy, but nothing was improving my condition. My leg would continue to fall asleep and the pain was constant in my leg and back. My life was just turned upside-down because I was unable to enjoy the things I wanted to do- exercise and had-to-do work.
Since going to ACWC I am now able to sit for longer periods of time and am able to run and lift weights like I used to. I am no longer taking any drugs and sleeping and working are not as painful or uncomfortable as they had been after the accident.
I was very concerned when I first came to the chiropractor. I was scared that they were going to worsen the problem. What I found out, however, was that they help you get in touch with your body, rather than masking your problems with drugs. Through regular adjustments and at-home stretching I am again able to enjoy my life and be active without putting chemicals into my body or simply living with the pain.
My whole “being” just feels better. I had severe swelling and pain on the left side of my neck and shoulder, I have always had some problems with my neck and shoulder, but I didn’t really know why and my doctors didn’t take the time to find out. One of my clients told me about Dr. Sienes, and that he had really helped her. At first I was apprehensive about going to a chiropractor, but she said he was gentle. In about the third week of adjustments I realized that I was walking straighter and moving my neck easier. In fact, I noticed that my whole “being” just feels better. So with Dr. Sienes’ adjustments and my changing a few things at work, I AM getting better. I know that because of what I do for work, I will always need some adjustments, but that’s alright with me- I would much rather do this than be on pain medications for the rest of my life!
Preventing additional back surgery
I was operated on in February of 1974 (four lumbar vertebra fused) at Stanford Hospital. I came to Amador County in 1974. The University doctors told me that due to my lower back surgery and the stress it would put on the rest of my spine, I would most likely need surgery on my upper back in later years. I started chiropractic care with Dr. Bane in 1975 and he said I would feel much better in the future if I had regular chiropractic care- at least twice per month. I followed his advice and have done that for the last 30+ years, most recently with the doctors at ACWC. I have not had any upper back problems and no additional surgeries!
Chiropractic care has allowed me to continue playing softball and bowling for many years and I still golf to this day at 80 years of age! Thanks to my regular chiropractic care, I know I have saved myself from having to have another back surgery. My best advice to anyone considering chiropractic is to go see Dr. Sienes at ACWC, listen to what they have to say about your spine and nervous system and how to take care of it… then actually DO what they suggest!
My MD told me NOT to try Chiropractic
I woke up one morning with pain in my upper back, left shoulder and neck. Over the next few days, the pain intensified with pain radiating down my left arm. I had numbness and tingling in my hand and weakness in my arm and hand. I ended up in the ER and was told it was “muscle spasm” and was sent home with pain meds. I saw my MD, who prescribed a combination of pain pills, muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories. The pain was so severe I was unable to work and I did not like the way the drugs made me feel. I was unable to function, spent most days sleeping or in bed. I began having panic attacks, either triggered by the intense pain or as a (side) effect of the drugs I was taking. I spent 5 long weeks in this condition, became increasingly depressed and my pain was not going away. When I sought chiropractic care I was desperate for relief. I had never seen a chiropractor before, was skeptical of the profession and had often raised my eyebrows when someone would tell me the things their chiropractor would do to them.
I had 50% pain relief within 2-3 days and almost 100% pain relief within 4-5 days! I no longer wake up in the morning with aches and pains. I have more energy and my mood has improved drastically. I am able to function in all areas of my life again.
I recommend people talk to others who have had a positive response to chiropractic care. Both my MD and a neurologist were not supportive of my decision to receive chiropractic care and the medical profession as a whole is anti-chiropractic care. I trusted my “gut” and the fact I found relief from my pain without all those drugs. Inform yourself, go online, research and ask lots of questions. Be your own advocate with regards to your body and health care. MD’s DO NOT have all the answers. Utilize your options with regard to alternative health care practices. The entire team at ACWC have been an excellent resource, they are pleasant, friendly and they know your first name!
I considered myself very healthy before chiropractic
I considered myself very healthy before ever going to Amador Chiropractic Wellness Center. I ate fairly well and exercised almost every day. Although I caught an average of six colds a year and had headaches at least twice a week, I figured that it was “normal stress” and the product of working with my students all day – they were always coming to school with some contagious illness.
I also suffered from premenstrual symptoms including headaches that lasted three or more days, anxiety, irritability, and fatigue, which medication did little to relieve. I decided to seek chiropractic care because I was lifting weights a lot and my back was going out occasionally, taking days to recover.
I received the expected results from regular adjustments such as fewer incidents of back pain or “tweaking” as I call it, but the results go so far beyond that. In the last year I have not had one cold, or any other illness for that matter. I rarely get headaches and I stopped taking any medications if I do get them, thanks to the advice of Dr. Sienes. I find that the headaches I do get are less severe and are relieved much sooner with out medication. Believe it or not, I am an inch taller than when I first received chiropractic adjustments…. I credit that to better posture!
I am always telling people to seek care at ACWC. I assure them that any pre-conceived notions, or previous negative treatments elsewhere, are not a valid reason to ignore the benefits of a healthy spine and nervous system. I tell them about the benefits I’ve received THAT GO FAR BEYOND THE MISGUIDED BELIEF THAT BACK CARE IS ONLY ABOUT THEIR BACK. I’ve learned that the back is connected to so many vital areas through the nervous system and ignoring good chiropractic care is doing them a huge disservice.
I never thought that chiropractic care meant anything more than keeping the back and neck healthy. ACWC goes far beyond the back in teaching their clients about staying/getting truly healthy. It’s even more important than eating well and exercising on a regular basis.
